Kilalanin si Lito, isang tipikal na studyante. Gigising ng wala pang araw, uuwi ng wala nang araw. Ikaw, may kilala ka bang tulad nya?

It's been more than 2 years since I wrote the story Pagod na si Jan-Jan for a school publication. It was inspired by the resiliency of my fellow students, especially batchmates, in their respective tasks and school life.

But the story doesn't only focus on the school life of the main character, JanJan (Lito in the film), but his world as a frustrated student who is experiencing pressure from both poles of school and home. The story reflects some of the teenager's problems in the modern era, which for me, must be understood by the society we are into.

JanJan experiences troubles in his subjects at school, including his 'feeling major' minor subjects (termed 'major-major' in the original story). He lives in a world where sleep is unknown, and so, a small minute can define a rest. Still, this rest of his would cause him a great trouble at home with his parents, where he should waste no time in doing chores even he has volume of home works to do.

Physically and mentally drained, he still manages to survive every day with this lifestyle of a slave. But what's worse is that he is also exhausting emotionally, which for teenagers, a very big deal to handle.

The film version added a little spice on the story which made it more meaningful. Lito, a college student who suffers greater amount of work despite of having a week body, defeats every day with perseverance and his eagerness to finish his studies.

I'm so honored that my fellow students appreciate my works by adapting it. Even if it is just a school requirement, remembering the fruit of my writing puts a scar of joy in my heart.

Even the readers don't remember my name, as long as they carry on the message that I want to imply on this society, I'm filled and celebrating with success for my job was done.

On the Difference between 'Joy' and 'Happiness'

The irritating sound of the banging alarm clock ends my world that I couldn’t even recall. This world of mine frees me from the stress that I encounter every day that I breathe. This time, even it only lasts for two hours, feels like a year of work-free life and rest. Still, all good things have an end. I need to stand up again and face the same stress that I’ve left during my sleep.
